December 13th, 2011

Question by Lois_G: How the heck does an insurance company consider a yeast infection a pre-existing condition?
My insurance company is trying to dispute a bill because I had a yeast infection. They’re claiming it’s a pre-existing condition! WTF!!! A yeast infection? It’s not like that is some serious condition that I knew about. I went to the doctor and found out I had one. What a rip off!

Best answer:

Answer by bdawg
I Friggin HATE insurance companies. WHAT A RIP OFF. I had a $ 5000 surgery and they wouldn’t pay a dime because they claimed that it was done at an out of network hospital. My doctor even had prequalified the surgery and the FRIGGIN insurance refused to pay.

How can I find an affordable psychiatrist without insurance?

December 12th, 2011

Question by kt: How can I find an affordable psychiatrist without insurance?
I would like to see a psychiatrist to treat my depression but I don’t have health insurance. (I applied for private health insurance but was denied based on my medical history.) Is there a way to look up doctors who work on a sliding scale? I might need medication as well. I definitely won’t qualify for medicare but I’m not sure I can afford to pay full price for medication. Any ideas?

If you live in Minnesota, there is a website called Carol.com. You can compare all aspects of healthcare to help you get the best price and most value. I would just call around and get pricing.

What are some tips for first time dental insurance buyers to avoid rip offs and scams?

December 12th, 2011

Question by Rock Star: What are some tips for first time dental insurance buyers to avoid rip offs and scams?
never having bought dental insurance before can be scary, anyone have any tips to avoid misunderstandings, and high costs, and things like this ? Corporations clearly can trick people to get into their pocket books big time, so what are some things to look out for and avoid when you have never bought dental insurance before? (In California if it matters)

Best answer:

Answer by sbinlb
Normally, dental insurance is NOT a good buy. Dental insurance typically only covers 50% of the work, has a very low yearly limit ($ 1000-$ 2000), and each procedure has a deductible attached (usually about $ 50). For the price it doesn’t cover itself.

I’m a self-employed so there is no “company benefits” and my dad is an insurance salesperson. There is NO WAY I can go a day without medical insurance. He WILL NOT sale me dental insurance because it just isn’t worth the money.

Also, my dentist discounts everything now that I don’t have dental insurance. I didn’t ask for this; he just started doing it.

Do Insurance companies require you to have a college degree for the Insurance Agent position or just having your license is fine? If you don’t have a college degree will they hire you if you don’t have any work history, but have proper licensing. Thanks to all that can help.

You are not required to have a college degree by most carriers.

For Pre-Licensing education you might try http://www.360training.com
